“My son Jacopo is twelve, and he told me flat out that if I buy him plaster holy figurines for his Confirmation, he won’t show up at church.” When Elena walked into our workshop with this desperate confession, we knew the time had come to offer a collection of designer First Communion and Confirmation favors that truly spoke the language of today’s kids.

The guests of honor are no longer passive spectators at their own ceremonies. At nine or twelve, they have clear tastes, follow design trends, and flatly reject the old “dust-collecting” knickknacks. They want objects that make sense, with everyday use or strong aesthetic appeal they can proudly show their friends. Here’s how Neapolitan artistic craftsmanship is evolving to meet this new aesthetic of mindfulness.

Choosing designer First Communion and Confirmation favors in shades of amaranth and ivory

The first big revolution this season concerns the color palette, which becomes mature and sophisticated, moving away from the childish tones and overly sharp contrasts of the past:

• For Confirmation: we’re seeing the sunset of classic bright red, too often associated with graduation. In its place, the star isAmaranth or deep liturgical red. It’s a warm, autumnal, enveloping shade that symbolizes the fire of the Holy Spirit with a decidedly grown-up elegance.
• For First Communion: optical white gives way toWarm Ivory and silk white. Soft shades that pair beautifully with earth tones, sage green, and natural wood, perfect for creating an intimate, serene atmosphere.

These tones don’t just cover our hand-painted ceramics; they guide the entire decor, from raw linen ribbons and textured boxes down to the details of the sugared almond table.

When usefulness becomes art: three ideas from our workshop

To move beyond the idea of the “useless object,” in our Naples workshop we’ve reinterpreted the tradition of hand-decorated majolica through geometric shapes and objects that can find a real place in contemporary homes.

An original idea for close relatives or godparents is the limoncello wedding favor set with lemon shot glasses. Although it was created to celebrate weddings, this set (20x20x8 cm), made up of a small bottle and two matching shot glasses decorated with sunny lemons in white, yellow, light blue, and green, is a convivial gift of the finest craftsmanship. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to give a bit of Neapolitan warmth that will be used and proudly displayed at family lunches.

For Confirmation kids, on the other hand, the ceramic hot air balloon with a motivational phrase is the perfect blend of symbolism and modernity. Measuring 15x8x8 cm, with a delicate palette of yellow, turquoise, and beige, this object isn’t just a decoration for the bedroom but a message of growth and freedom. The motivational quote painted on its surface resonates with the sensibility of preteens, making it an intimate, personal gift.

If instead you’re looking for a minimalist, “green” keepsake, the ceramic heart vase with the words Coltiva l'Amore is the ideal choice. In pastel shades of light blue, pink, green, and yellow, this little pot is designed to hold a small succulent. Placed on a kid’s desk or a living room shelf, it combines the beauty of handcrafted ceramics with an invitation to care for something that grows, a concept that pairs beautifully with the deep meaning of First Communion.

How to coordinate the event: natural textures and matte details

The aesthetic of mindfulness doesn’t stop at the choice of favor; it extends to the entire party decor. For fall ceremonies, the secret is to avoid sharp contrasts and favor visual continuity. Here’s how to set up the tables and the sugared almond table:

• The base: linen or raw cotton tablecloths in warm ivory or hemp tones.
• Botanical details: eucalyptus branches, sage green, and dried flowers in warm shades of amaranth and muted burgundy.
• Touches of light: candlesticks or small matte gold details that warm the space without feeling excessive or showy.

Handcrafted personalization as a value for kids

Involving the celebrants in choosing their own favors is the secret to making the event truly unforgettable. In our workshop in Naples, every creation is shaped and painted by hand: this lets us customize the decoration, for example adding the child’s initials in a modern, minimalist font, or rendering traditional majolica motifs in a palette of amaranth or antique gold.

This way, the favor stops being a formal obligation and becomes a one-of-a-kind design creation, a story told on a ceramic canvas that kids will be proud to give to their friends and relatives.
